Justin Reuter - A Club legacy of leadership and optimism.

BGCCA announces the planned departure of our longtime CEO Justin Reuter, who has accepted a role with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the parent organization of the Capital Area Club.

Justin Reuter's Impact on Our Community

Reuter, an Albany County native, graduated from The College of Saint Rose and UAlbany. He became CEO of Albany Boys & Girls Club in 2013. In 2019, he oversaw the successful merger of the Boys & Girls Club of Albany with the Troy Boys & Girls Club. Since then, the combined organization has grown significantly, achieving an impressive 57% increase in annual revenue.

Today, BGCCA operates 28 locations across four school districts. We employ over 175 staff members and serve 1,000 youth daily.

Justin Reuter expressed his excitement about the new opportunity, saying, “After 17 incredible years with this organization, I am honored and excited to accept the position of Director of Organizational Development for the Northeast Division at Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I am grateful for the opportunity to take on a new challenge while continuing to support the Boys & Girls Club movement. Working alongside such a dedicated and passionate team in the Capital Area has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and the lessons, memories, and relationships I’ve built here will stay with me forever.”

A Legacy of Leadership

“We are incredibly proud of Justin and all we have achieved together during his 17 years with the organization,” stated Christine Tramontano, the Board President of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area. “Justin’s dedication and leadership have left a lasting impact. We are excited to build on this strong foundation as we welcome the next generation of leadership. We wish Justin the very best in his new role with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and look forward to seeing the great work he will continue to accomplish.”

Reuter's leadership style fostered an inclusive and innovative atmosphere. His ability to inspire colleagues and unite them behind a common mission has propelled the organization forward. The significant revenue increase is a testament to his effective leadership strategies.

Transitioning Leadership

BGCCA’s Chief Development Officer Patrick Doyle will step in as interim CEO following Reuter’s departure. Doyle led the Troy Boys & Girls Club as its CEO before the merger in 2019. He has worked closely with Reuter over the past six years.

“The Club has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, beginning with my time as a Club kid and now having the privilege of helping to lead its future,” said Doyle. “I’m excited to continue advancing our mission and ensuring that our Club remains a place where every young person feels safe, supported, and inspired.”

This transition comes at a critical point for BGCCA as it continues to grow and serve more youth in the community. The leadership team is committed to maintaining the organization's vision and expanding its impact.

Looking Forward: The Future of BGCCA

As we reflect on Justin Reuter’s contributions, we also look forward. The organization is poised for growth. The leadership team remains dedicated to enriching the lives of the youth we serve.

Continuing the Mission

Looking ahead, BGCCA plans to further its mission of providing a safe and supportive environment for all young individuals. Our continued success will depend on strong leadership and community support. As we welcome a new era of leadership under Patrick Doyle, we will build upon the strong foundation laid by Justin Reuter.

Justin Reuter’s last day as CEO will be Friday, April 11.

“I know that Patrick and his team will continue to drive the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area forward with great success,” added Reuter.

A Fond Farewell

Thank you for your service and leadership, Justin! Your impact will be felt for many years to come.
