2022 Juneteenth Event

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area (BGCCA) participated in a public Juneteenth Celebration at Crossgates Mall in Albany on Monday, June 20th (public observed holiday).


Juneteenth (June 19) is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States originating in Galveston, Texas in 1865.



The event was emceed by David Gordon Jr, BGCCA Program Manager at the Albany Clubhouse. Entertainment included performances of the U.S. National Anthem and Black National Anthem, as well as dance, sketch and spoken word pieces.


BGCCA featured two organizational highlights: Freight Farm, our hydroponic farm built inside of a shipping container at the Troy Clubhouse, and Ultimate Journey, our outdoor adventure program.
